JJWC HOLDS WRITESHOP ON PACKAGING GOOD PRACTICE

The Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC) capacitates Regional Juvenile Justice and Welfare Committees (RJJWCs), city and municipal governments, barangays, barangay council for the protection of children (BCPC), and non-government organizations (NGOs) on Packaging Good Practice on Diversion on August 16 – 18, 2022 via Zoom.

This activity is in line with the conduct of the Search for Good Practice of Barangays and NGO Partners Implementing the Diversion Program of the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act (JJWA). It aims to equip the participants with knowledge in documenting good practices and produce draft materials in documenting the good practice of their respective barangays/organizations.

“The Search for Good Practice intends to recognize the efforts of our duty-bearers, for their innovative, responsive, and sustainable efforts on diversion. This could be done if their good practices are well-packaged and documented,” said JJWC Executive Director Atty. Tricia Clare A. Oco.

Further, the activity is also seen as a vital opportunity for the regional participants to deepen and acquire skills related to advocacy.

The writeshop had two sessions, the first session focused on the good practice principles, feature writing, and photography and was discussed by Ms. Danica Anna Dumdum, while the second session is on video production and was discussed by Mr. Mark Louie Lucero.

Among the participants were applicants for the Search including Barangay Kalipi, Lucban, Quezon from Region IV-A; Barangay Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo City; BCPC of Barangay Cabanbanan, Oton City; and Quidan, Kaisahan Negros Occidental from Region VI; BCPC of Camino Nueva, Zambonaga City from Region IX; Barangay Balili and Pico, La Trinindad, Benguet from Cordillera Administrative Region; and Barangay Lomoyon, Datu Paglas, Maguindanao from Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

“JJWC is thankful for the time and effort of our partners, we hope that through this activity we can continually increase awareness and appreciation of stakeholders, key decision-makers, and the general public on the positive impact of the implementation of the law to our children and communities,” said Atty. Oco.
