12th JJWEEK: FOCUSES ON HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF ALL CHILDREN

The Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC) leads the celebration of the 12th Juvenile Justice and Welfare Consciousness Week on November 19 – 25, 2023 with the theme “Nourishing Dreams, Shaping Futures: Ensuring the Right to Health and Well-being of All Children”.

This year’s celebration aims to create and increase awareness of the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act (JJWA) and its implementation among target audiences, showcase the talents of children and youth through a songwriting competition, and generate support and participation of duty-bearers and stakeholders on the full implementation of the juvenile justice law.

To commence the celebration, a Kick-Off Activity on November 20, 2023, in Bahay Pag-Asa (BPA) Batangas City will be conducted. This will include a Press Briefing, a Ceremonial Presentation of the Support to the BPA Project, and a testimonial of former children in conflict with the law (CICL)’s journey to success.

Activities for children and youth include the Songs of Journey and Hope: JJWC Songwriting Competition. This is open to all Filipino children and youth in Bahay Pag-Asa (BPA) and Regional Residential Center for Youth (RRCY) and JJWA 101 is an interschool orientation on the juvenile justice law that will be conducted in two selected universities in Metro Manila on November 22, 2023.

To conclude the celebration, the Culminating Event on November 24, 2023, will include the actual performance and awarding of the Top Three Winners of the Songwriting Competition, the Launching of JJWC-Issued Policies, and the Launching of JJWC-Consuelo Partnership Project – BPA Agusan del Norte Video Documentation.
